Wisdom teeth extractions when you're older

Can you advise me? I'm 61 years old. My wisdom teeth feel absolutely fine, but my new dentist is suggesting I have them removed. I'm a little concerned, because my understanding is the surgery is complicated the older you get.

Laurence,

I don't know the details of your case, but here are some general guidelines. If you are over 40 and your wisdom teeth are fully erupted and not bothering you, I would advise against having them extracted. The same goes for if they are fully impacted and not bothering you.

If you're under 40 and they are partially impacted, there is a greater risk they will cause problems in the future and it is better to get them out before you get older when complications can arise.
