I hope you’ll forgive me for saying this but I tend to avoid dentists at all costs. I’ve never had a good experience. I do take care of my teeth. I brush them. I floss. That’s more than my husband does and he goes twice a year. Despite my brushing and flossing, my teeth are starting to show their age and are stained. I’d like to whiten them, but I don’t have a dentist. Will a dentist whiten them without me coming in for treatment?
I’m sorry you have experienced difficulties with your dentists in the past. Many people, because of past traumatic experiences, have severe dental anxiety. This plays havoc on their oral health because they’re too afraid to go. I’ve seen patients who refused to walk through a dentist’s door until they were in a dental emergency. Sometimes, they wait so long there is no way to save their teeth. It breaks my heart because it is completely unnecessary.
Now I’m not saying it was avoidable because they should have sucked it up and gone to the dentist regardless of the painful appointments. Absolutely not! Dental care does not have to be equated to legal torture.
Let me assure you there are gentle dentists who are kind and compassionate with their patients. They explain everything as they go; they stop when the patient is nervous; they care about how you’re feeling while you’re in the dental chair.
I’m telling you all of this not just to convince you to see a dentist. I’m telling you this because I’m sure you want great results with your teeth whitening. If your teeth haven’t been professionally cleaned in a bit, the results will be splotchy. I’m certain you don’t want splotchy teeth.
Now I am certain you can find a dentist who will take your money and whiten your teeth regardless of uneven results. But, I want you to have a beautiful smile and not just have another disappointing experience with a dentist.
Finding a Gentle Dentist
To find one of these elusive gentle dentists, I’m going to suggest you start with an internet search. Look for one of these three phrases:
- Gentle Dentist
- Sedation Dentist
- Cater to Cowards Dentist
Make a list of a few of these dentists in your area. Then, take the additional step of checking their reviews. This simple step can help you verify that they truly are kind, gentle dentists. Or, it could prevent you from seeing a dentist who advertises as one thing and in reality is quite the opposite.
Best of luck to you.
