I have a two-unit dental bridge which I was hoping to replace with dental implants. I saw this place advertising teeth in a day so I went to their presentation. The idea of not having to wait months was appealing. Their presentation was convincing, but they wanted me to remove all of my teeth. Apparently, they do one type of procedure and that’s it. I’m not sure removing all my teeth is worth having my teeth fixed in a day. What do you think?
You’re right to be hesitant. It rarely makes sense to get rid of healthy teeth. In your case, it makes even less sense, because you have so few teeth that need work. My guess is you went to Clear Choice Dental Implants. They’re kind of a one-size-fits-all implant mill. In fact, they don’t do traditional implants. They do what’s called an all-on-4 implant procedure. This definitely isn’t what you need.
Many patients struggle with whether to get dental implants or a dental bridge. You’ve already got a dental bridge and are just ready to switch. That’s perfectly fine. In fact, though it won’t be done in a day, if you go to a good implant dentist it should go rather smoothly.
As you’re going to do a major switch in treatment, this is the time to think ahead as to whether there’s anything else you want done. For instance, teeth whitening should be done before you get your implants to make sure the implant crowns will match the new color of your teeth.
Or, if there are other teeth you want to reshape, such as with porcelain veneers. Dental implants can last much longer than a bridge so you want to plan your long-term goals.
