I suffer from TMJ. That makes me very tender. Being at the dentist’s office isn’t always my favorite thing to do, but my dentist has always been a dream. He retired a few years ago. I’ve visited four dentists since then and I can’t find one who is the least bit gentle with me. I’m about to give up. Is there some way of finding a gentle dentist or is it really just continuing to try over and over again?

It sounds like you’ve been put through the mill. I’m sorry you’ve been roughed around in your last few visits. I want to applaud you. Despite that, you’ve kept trying. Many lesser patients would have already given up and run for the hills. You’re obviously made of sterner stuff.
I also want to encourage you. There are definitely gentle dentists out there. Dr. Tran is one of them. But, of course, that doesn’t help you in Georgia, does it?
Some of them advertise on their websites as a “gentle dentist”. Others choose the terms “cater to cowards” or “sedation dentist”.
As I’m sure you know, advertisements are not a guarantee. Once you find a few dentists you’d consider I’d check their reviews on sites like Yelp and Google. It’d be nice to get an account and opinion from someone who has at some point actually sat in their chair.
