So, I need to replace a couple of teeth. My dentist wants me to get dental implants. He says they’re the best possible treatment and it would be like having my own teeth back when they were healthy. Is he over-hyping them or are they that much better than a dental bridge?

Your dentist isn’t hyping them. Dental Implants really are like having your own natural teeth back. You can eat what you want. Brush and floss as normal. They will remain stable. It is a more expensive treatment, but it is worth it if you have the funds.
There is a time when a bridge would make more sense. If the adjacent teeth are already in need of a crown. That will take care of two issues at once.
